Following the Immigration Act of 1990, the EB-5 program was created by Congress to stimulate the US economy through job creation and capital investment by foreign investors. Under a program initially enacted in 1992 as a pilot, qualified applicants can apply for EB-5 classification by investing in designed regional centres designed to promote regional growth. On May 5, 2017 the president of the United States signed Public Law 115-31, extending this program through September 30, 2017.
To obtain the visa, applicants must invest $1,000,000 (or at least $500,000 in a Targeted Employment Area) creating or preserving at least 10 jobs for US workers.
